After lying awake for over an hour staring at the ceiling, I finally got up to read. I’m two-thirds through the book and it’s turning out not to be worth the time and effort, but I can’t quit now. Twenty-five pages in – if it doesn’t grab me – it goes straight back to the library. Two-hundred pages in – I feel compelled to finish.
Good thing it’s Saturday. No teaching. No social events. The run won’t happen today. My daughter just asked if she can make dinner tonight. She likes cooking. I’ll never deny this request.
So I have the day to try to function as a reasonable adult. To not let my snippy tongue (or fingers, online) get the better of me.
A perfect song for today -Every Day I Have the Blues – the Count Basie Orchestra with Joe Williams. The lyrics are, of course, depressing, but the music is so upbeat and peppy that I can’t help but smile. It’s in my head now for the day.
