Jazz legend Clark Terry in a wonderfully funny, musical version of we’re-not-sure-what. Actually, it’s called Mumbles, and he does just that. After the first bit where he plays flugelhorn, he mumble-sings a story. It’s gibberish – although the odd English word creeps in. What’s amazing is that you can kind of tell the story from his tone of voice and facial expression. And yes, that’s Chris Botti looking on for a couple of seconds. He was part of the same episode of Legends of Jazz, which was a weekly PBS music show that first aired in 2006. The youtube channel LEGENDSOFJAZZ has 13 highlights from these shows.
