Collegiality:  the relationship between colleagues. Colleagues are those explicitly united in a common purpose and respecting each other’s abilities to work toward that purpose (Wikipedia).

I had a lovely morning yesterday with a few colleagues at a coffee shop in Bridgeland (Calgary), relaxing in a big, comfy chair bathed in warm sunshine, sipping my Caramel Macchiato, discussing how we can provide a more supportive, collegial atmosphere for student teachers, among other things. It was an official sub-committee meeting of our local Registered Music Teachers Association, and we did achieve what we set out to achieve, but it ended up being more than that. It was a time of growing friendship and collegiality for me in a profession where we can end up working in isolation if we don’t make the effort to get out and get involved.

So thank you to my colleagues and friends – I had warm fuzzies and lots of energy all day.
