At the beginning of my 15-year-old daughter’s piano lesson yesterday (yes, I’m the teacher) I showed her the book I picked up on pedaling last week – quite excitedly, for I’m anxious to fill in some of the gaps in my pedaling knowledge and technique.
Me: Here’s the book I was telling you about – 300 pages on pedaling alone!
15-year-old: Mom, if you want to get someone enthusiastic about something, you don’t start by mentioning a 300-page book about it… just sayin’…
Me: OK – how should I have started this conversation?
15-year-old: There is no good way to start that one… just sayin’….
