With apologies to Jen Fink at Pianimation for the title!
You might think this is something that came from a gym or something. But, in fact, it is my new adjustable piano bench. I spent only 15 minutes at St. John’s Music (our local Yamaha dealer) turning a variety of benches up and down before my arms
ached. Knowing I would be adjusting a bench between every student, I opted for this hydraulic beauty. It’s very easy to operate and is really stable. I’m looking forward to resuming teaching next week and spending less time fussing with heights.
Hi LaDona,
Your title gave me a good laugh this morning!! Your new bench looks fabulous! I couldn’t quite tell from the picture – is it duet-sized? I’ve been considering purchasing an adjustable bench for a long time, but haven’t had much luck finding something that’s light, easy to use, and large enough for a duet team to use. This one looks promising….
Thanks!
Good Morning Jen,
I think I’ll like this a lot – although it’s not lighter than my other regular duet-sized bench. If anything, it’s a touch heavier – but very stable. It’s large enough to be able to sit on it with a student, or maybe even do some duet rehearsal, although for 2 adult-sized bodies to perform a duet it’s probably a bit too small. You’d probably end up bumping elbows more than you’d like. For the studio, it’s perfect.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the info! I may have to go shopping now…
