Last year I had what I called an Unbalanced Studio – a large number of students at either end of the spectrum (Beginners and Advanced). This year things are slightly more spread out:
Second Years: 7 students
Grade 1 Prep to Grade 3: 7 students
Grades 4-7: 4 students
Advanced (Piano and/or Theory): 12 students
I have no brand-new beginners this year, which is a bit of a shame. I learned so much last year about teaching the newbies because I had so many of them. I have one or two spots left in my schedule that I could fill – although I’m not concerned about filling them – so if I get I call from a potential beginner I’ll take the student.
I’m interested in knowing how other teachers’ studios look. Leave a comment and let me know how yours is looking for this year.
I love this post! Here’s what my studio looks like this year:
First or Second Years: 3 students
Grade 2 – 3: 5 students
Grades 4 – 7: 15 students
Grade 8 and up: 8 students
Lucky you! I love the intermediate stage – I’m looking forward to having more at that level over the next several years.
